On a windy Monday night, Petes Candy Storea bar in Williamsburg with a railcar-shaped performance space in the backis crammed to capacity with the thin and the bearded. Almost no one is drinking. The mood is pregame, expectant and nervous. Were at one of the oddest New York City powwows in recent memory: a panel designed to quell a metastasizing dispute between bicyclists and Hasidic Jews. A Very Peculiar Sight

While driving near downtown Minneapolis this morning, I saw what appeared to be a perfectly healthy young woman riding a bicycle in a normal fashion. On the bike were custom made racks constructed of vertical PVC pipe. Stowed in these racks were crutches, These were the type of crutches with arm clasps, not armpit pads; the sad kind of crutches you might associate with a chronic muscle disease or orthopedic problem, not a broken leg. Can anybody think of a an explanation for a crutch rack on a bicycle?
